Match called off after umpire hit

A TEENAGE umpire was the victim of a behind-the-play attack during the Western Region Football League Competition under 18 B Grade match between Sunshine and Western Magpies on Saturday.
The match was abandoned after umpire Matt Harvey received a blow to the head.
Western Magpies president Richard Goring would not comment on the incident, but confirmed the club would be pursuing assault charges against a Sunshine player.
A Magpies player was also king hit as he was putting his gear in his car after the match.
The WRFL could not be contacted by Star before going to press.
An ambulance was called to the Kindersmith Reserve in Braybrook as a result of the incidents.
