Next step for new policy

MELTON residents are invited to have their say until 31 August on an updated draft footway policy created to give the community clear guidelines on how businesses can gain permission to place street furniture on public walkways.
Melton Shire mayor Justin Mammarella said the process of updating the footway policy was a proactive move by council to ensure the business community was aware of council requirements before they applied for street furniture permits.
The draft policy covers all outside displays and street furniture, including signage, and also takes into account the use of street furniture during special events, such as the annual Djerriwarrh Festival.
The draft footway policy can be viewed at the Melton Shire Civic Centre at 232 High St, Melton, or at the website www.melton.vic.gov.au
