DESPITE the wet weather during the week, it was again the batsmen who dominated proceedings in suburban cricket leagues across the weekend.
There were more centuries recorded as the bowlers generally struggled against perfect batting conditions on Saturday, similar to those which saw plenty of runs scored last week.
In the Victorian Turf Cricket Association, Keilor Park’s Jamie Manning scored one of the biggest scores of the round, a knock of 104, which bettered a half-century in round two.
Wallace Gannaway also scored a century, making the most of a brilliant day’s batting from his Altona Roosters side.
Sub District wicketkeeper/batsman Ben Collins notched his highest score for his team, Altona, falling just five runs short of a century.
Laverton’s Darron Batties proved the bowlers could also steal the limelight, taking the incredible figures of 6/21 from just nine overs.
