Royal treat

A BRUSH with royalty is still a surreal experience for a Caroline Springs family who were on the same flight as Princess Mary on their return from Hobart to Melbourne last week.
Olga and Gustavo Aguilar were seated only four rows behind Tasmanian-born Princess Mary and her son Christian on the Jetstar flight.
The 2.50pm flight was delayed as the couple, who were seated next to a window, saw a black four-wheel-drive pull up next to the plane and witness Danish royalty step out.
Luckily, Mr Aguilar had his video camera handy and filmed Princess Mary board the plane.
With a sparkle in her eyes, Ms Aguilar said Princess Mary looked “pretty and elegant”.
“Someone did say to me before we left that we were probably going to bump into Princess Mary in Hobart but I didn’t think it would happen on the plane, especially at Jetstar,” Ms Aguilar said.
She said it was difficult to get out of their seats as a man in the aisle seat next to them fell asleep during the one hour-long flight.
Their 13-month-old son Cristian was more of a troublemaker than Princess Mary’s son who walked up and down the plane corridor, Mrs Aguilar said.
“People just looked at him and smiled but no one spoke to her,” Mrs Aguilar said.
“I thought about approaching and talking to her but we were crammed in our seats,” she added.
But the video footage was golden evidence for their son to see when he grew up that at such an early age he got so close to royalty, Mr Aguilar said.
Princess Mary was visiting Hobart with her son and spent time in Melbourne last week with Crown Prince Frederik before their return to Denmark.
