A WERRIBEE family with country music in their veins will be aiming to tug on people’s heart strings this Easter.
Country musician Billy Bridge wrote a new song which will be performed by his wife, Rebecca Lee Nye, as the theme song for this years’ Good Friday Appeal.
The song, In a Child’s Face, will be played on Channel 7 all day as they attempt to raise much needed funds for the Royal Children’s hospital.
Mr Bridge said the couple was excited to have their song chosen for the day.
“It’s our first big sort of television thing,” Mr Bridge said.
Mr Bridge’s granddaughter spent time in the Royal Children’s Hospital when she had a pacemaker put in, creating inspiration for the song.
“We thought about the kids that we’ve seen in there when we were writing the song,” he said. “They are going through a fair bit of hardship and they seem to handle it better than us.”
The song will also be available for purchase on iTunes with some of the profits going towards the Good Friday Appeal.
Mr Bridge said he felt honoured to be a part of such a worthwhile cause.
“I hope that people will be able to relate to the song and that might make them donate a bit more,” he said.
Keeping in theme with music and children, at 20 months and three-years-old, the couple’s own kids have shown some talent in their parent’s field.
“They often pick up our guitars and try to play them, so I think there is going to be a bit of music in them,” Mr Bridge said.
