IT’S a new twist on an old religious classic.
Yarraville’s Westgate Vineyard Church will host a contemporary art exhibition, Mind the Gap, that is based on the Stations of the Cross this Good Friday.
The exhibition showcases the 14 scenes of Jesus’ crucifixion through installations, sculpture, music and drama performances.
Parishioner Kara Downes said the exhibition had been done twice in the past three years, with a vision to turn it into an annual event.
“It’s different to the more traditional idea of the Stations of the Cross,” Ms Downes said.
Her dad Peter added: “Quite a few churches do more traditional Stations of the Cross for Easter, but I think there’s a bit of a creative surge happening in a few churches of late.
“We just felt that we wanted to do something that made a statement about Easter.”
Mind the Gap will be showing at Yarraville Senior Citizens Centre, 48 Fehon St, Yarraville, from 10am to 3pm.
