WYNDHAM City Council has adopted its budget for the next financial year, meaning that its record capital works program will go ahead.
The budget was approved at last week’s council meeting and it includes a rate rise of 5.5 per cent and an increase in the charge for garbage collection.
The budget received 11 submissions, with most of them being approved or already covered in the upcoming budget.
“While not all submissions could be funded, we have also offered to advocate to the State and Federal Governments for the Wyndham Branch of the Salvation Army and Uniting Care Werribee Support and Housing, who are seeking further funding to provide housing and support for Wyndham residents,” Mayor John Menegazzo said.
“As the fastest growing municipality in the state, Wyndham City has to ensure that our budget allows us to fund vital infrastructure, while maintaining financial stability.”
