A HIGH-speed police chase that started in Geelong and ended in the western suburbs of Melbourne, has resulted in two men being arrested.
Luke Del Pizzo, 18 from Mernda and Jason Filippi, 21 from Thomastown, were both charged with one count of robbery and two counts of conduct endangering life.
The pair allegedly stole clothes from a surf shop in Geelong, threatening a staff member with capsicum spray before fleeing in their white Suzuki Swift.
Police gave up the chase when the men reached speeds of up to 140 kilometres an hour and allegedly crossed over to the wrong side of the Princes Freeway. A police spokesperson said that the pair were picked up again in Werribee by an unmarked car before they made a U-turn, hitting a guard rail in the process, and left the freeway near Point Cook Rd. The thieves were eventually cornered in Laverton where they were arrested and taken in for questioning.
