THE Maribyrnong River Edge Artists Movement (MREAM) will leave its Moreland St premises today after more than two decades at the site.
The group is temporarily “homeless” after original plans to move into Maribyrnong’s Pipemakers Park have been delayed.
Artist Heather Horrocks, who has used the site for the past five years, told Star last week many of the artists had been “putting off” clearing out their rooms.
“It’s all looking a bit sad, there’s empty rooms,” she said.
A private developer plans to convert the site into a block of apartments – subject to planning approval.
The group will eventually move in with fellow artists’ group, Melbourne’s Living Museum of the West.
