Facelift for 10 courts

FOUR netball courts at Mossfiel Reserve and six courts at Werribee Sports and Fitness Centre will be replaced with acrylic surfaces.
Wyndham mayor Kim McAliney said the surface complies with Netball Victoria standards.
Cr McAliney said resurfacing would enable the Werribee Netball Association and Hoppers Crossing Netball Association, the tenants of these courts, to increase their membership and host regional competitions.
“Sporting clubs are an important aspect of strong communities as they allow children and adults to exercise and socialise in a safe and fun environment,” said Cr McAliney.
“As Wyndham’s population continues to increase, council is committed to improving existing sporting facilities and building new facilities to accommodate this growth.”
Wyndham Council’s director of infrastructure Maurice Stabb said the works were part of the $59.5 million Capital Works program.
“Council is spending $5.9 million on open space and recreation facilities across Wyndham in the 08/09 financial year,” he said.
“As part of council’s extensive capital works program, further works to other open space and recreational facilities will commence throughout the year.”
Status Sports Surfaces were awarded the $102,085 contract.
The upgrades are expected to take six weeks to complete.
