The stage at the Myer Fashion Awards Australia’s gala presentation on Friday night became an intersection where the future met the present.
Some of Victoria and Australia’s best designers rubbed shoulders with the next generation – young kids oozing talent, inspiration and aspiration.
More than 600 people from around Victoria and New South Wales attended the event at Werribee’s Leisure and Events Centre.
They were greeted by more than 250 designs that ranged from conservative to progressive to unrestrained.
In the end, St Albans Secondary College was awarded the John Claringbold Memorial School Cup for a range of designs that won awards and the applause of many.
The Supreme Award was won by Dimitria Bridal Couture from Albert Park, after earlier winning the Professional Wedding Dress award in a gown modelled by Sarah Storey.
The Professional Long Gown Award went to Robert Dean from Carnegie.
Werribee’s Galvin Park, which placed second to St Albans in the secondary schools category, also had reason to cheer with Kelleyann Grenville’s Long Gown taking out first place.
Fellow Galvin Park student Stephanie Rottura placed first in the Calico section.
St Albans student Nikola Grba won the Funky Wear category for secondary schools while fellow student Alexandra Damceska took out the prize for Cocktail Wear.
The Wyndham Designer award went to Sarah and Louise Kayler-Thomson.
