TWO lucky Wyndham sports clubs will look the part now thanks to a State Government grant that will help them buy new uniforms.
The Wyndham All Abilities Football and Cricket Club and the Point Cook Football Club will share in more than $277,500 in funding as part of the Sporting Uniform Grants Program.
Member for the Western Metropolitan Region, Andrew Elsbury, said the two clubs would each receive $1000.
“This grant provides a boost for these two local sporting clubs by helping to provide new uniforms which are an important and necessary item for teams in most organised sporting competitions,” Mr Elsbury said.
“More importantly though, through the program we’re removing a crucial barrier to participation which is a key priority for the Victorian Government in supporting healthy and active communities and ensuring more Victorian’s, whatever their skill level or background, get the chance to represent their club and join in the fun.”
Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty said the clubs were two of 286 across Victoria to receive uniform funding.
“Team uniforms are more than just colours; they represent local sporting traditions and community pride,” Mr Delahunty said.
“These grants will go a long way towards boosting team morale, connecting communities and enabling more people to suit up and get more active more often. That is why we are proud to deliver the Sporting Uniform Grants Program.”
