WITH the stroke of a brush and the press of a pencil, five artists from Wyndham and Hobsons Bay have created a collection to be proud of.
Ivana Pinaffo from Hoppers Crossing, Janet Knight from Werribee and Anindita Banarjee, Uma Barry and Virginia Coghill from Williamstown will have their artworks displayed at the Point Cook Town Centre.
The artists create stunning works using styles from watercolour to oil painting.
Uma Barry said her work had undergone a drastic change since she arrived in Australia.
“I started work as an artist at age 15 in Fiji, painting religiously inspired pieces based on prominent figures in Indian mythology,” Ms Barry said.
“When I came to Australia in 1983 I was inspired by the Australian bush and used it as a central theme for my work.
“I never expected that I would love to paint so much nor did I anticipate that I would paint the things I do, or that they would turn out the way they do.
“For me painting is a learning process and full of surprises.”
Ms Pinaffo said art had become her passion and joy.
“Art is enduring as it transports us immediately to another dimension,” Ms Pinaffo said.
“I paint all manner of subject matter with a focus to the core of the essence of being; the form, colour and texture.”
The exhibition is currently being held at shop 431 in the Point Cook Town Centre, near Harris Scarfe.
