A FORMER Liberal Party candidate in the 2010 State Government election may run again if a new seat is formed in Wyndham.
Last week, Star revealed that Wyndham and Hobsons Bay were set to gain an extra seat in State Parliament when the Electoral Boundaries Commission (EBC) completes its review of the current boundaries.
The Altona electorate is currently 33.9 per cent above the number of residents an electorate should have while Tarneit is 19.9 per cent over quota.
Glenn Goodfellow, who is also a Wyndham councillor, told Star he believed a new seat incorporating the suburbs of Point Cook, Hoppers Crossing and Tarneit was a good idea.
Mr Goodfellow ran against Tim Pallas in the last State election and said he would not rule out running in a new seat if it is formed.
“I think a new seat would be a good decision and a logical decision, especially when you look at the fact that the Altona and Tarneit electorates are well over quota,” Mr Goodfellow said.
“I think it would bring balance and allow for proper representation in the area.”
Mr Goodfellow, who is currently a Wyndham councillor, said he would need to weigh up his options.
“It depends on a number of factors, number one being if I’m preselected and number two being what the boundaries end up being,” he said.
“There are a lot of hypotheticals but I wouldn’t say no to running. It is really all up to who the party preselects.”
The EBC is set to release its proposed boundary changes by 27 June this year.
