STUDENTS at a Hoppers Crossing primary school could be forgiven for thinking they were on the set of a Bollywood musical last week.
Performers from Cultural Infusion, a group that aims to build cultural harmony and wellbeing in the community, displayed their Indian dancing skills for 140 students from Mossfiel Primary School last Thursday.
A spokesperson for the performance said it was hoped the event would give the students an insight into other people’s backgrounds.
“This performance will teach students about the backgrounds of this traditional Indian dance and music culture,” the spokesperson said.
“Suitable for all ages and abilities, students will learn a fun Bollywood routine and the traditional meanings behind its key movements.”
The performance was part of Cultural Infusions Schools’ Program, which the spokesperson described as “a multidisciplinary program utilising arts and cultural practitioners from diverse cultures as a primary communication tool to enhance the school curriculum”.
