WYNDHAM residents are being encouraged to think of the Werribee central business district the next time they go on a shopping spree.
The Werribee Chamber of Commerce will launch its Live Local! Love Local! Campaign at the Weerama Festival on 24 March.
Chamber President, Tonia Tribe, said festival goers would be able to pick up showbags full of information on their favourite Werribee businesses.
Ms Tribe said it was hoped the ongoing campaign would boost economic activity in the centre of Werribee.
“The main concept is to really get people to be proud to eat, shop and conduct business in Werribee,” Ms Tribe said.
“It’s about creating a sense of community in Werribee and encouraging people to be that bit more passionate about Werribee and raise the profile of the area.”
Ms Tribe, who runs Tonia Tribe Boutique, said she loved having a business in the Werribee CBD.
“It’s a very positive area and it’s always busy, vibrant and there is always lots happening,” she said.
“We just want to draw attention to the CBD and get people to think about coming here first.
“We want to put Werribee at the front of people’s minds.”
The Weerama Festival will be held in Watton St in Werribee on Sunday 24 March. For more information visit www.weerama.org.au.
