PLANS are underway already to create the right mix of entertainment for next year’s Yarraville Festival.
The annual festival will take on a new guise next February with a program line-up that will transform it into a celebration of art and culture.
To mark the festival’s 15th year, organisers said it was appropriate to allow the festival to grow to reflect the life and fabric of the Yarraville community.
Festival committee president Charlie Kopa said Yarraville was a village where people saw, breathed and lived the arts.
“The festival program is inspired by the wide artistic demographic of its local community,” Mr Kopa said. “It caters for Yarraville’s different cultures and ages by producing an exciting display of art in at least ten different categories.”
Thousands of people from the cities of Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay are expected to visit Yarraville during the festivities.
The festival committee is already reviewing applications from people who want to be involved as street or stage performers or stallholders next year.
Mr Kopa said participation was not limited to stage or street performing. Residents could also be involved in the short film festival and the arts precinct.
