THE union representing job-insecure carpet manufacturing workers at Feltex has claimed victory after a long, drawn-out dispute over workers’ rights.
The Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union (TCFUA) with Feltex reached a collective agreement just in time for Christmas.
It allowed workers at the Tottenham and Braybrook plants to transfer to the new company with their entitlements protected.
Feltex was saved from going belly up when Godfrey Hirst bought the company in October after Feltex had gone into receivership.
For several months, Godfrey Hirst insisted the workers accept a cut to their job conditions and entitlements in order to keep their jobs.
