Police plan for reassurance

BRAYBROOK and Maidstone residents are to receive a reassurance policing action plan.
The plan was developed after a reassurance policing task force conducted a doorknock survey of Braybrook and Maidstone residents.
Surveyors found residents perceived burglary, drug use and selling, hoon-like behaviour and intimidation by groups of people as issues of concern.
Senior Sergeant Bill Weatherly of Footscray Police said the action plan would include an increase in “targeted operations”.
“Like the operation we’ve undertaken on hoon-like behaviour, there will be plans specifically targeting those areas of concern,” he said.
Reassurance policing is a joint initiative between Victoria Police, Neighbourhood Renewal, Maribyrnong City Council, and the Braybrook and Maidstone Neighbourhood Association.
The Victorian Law Enforcement Drug Fund and the Department of Human Services fund the project.
