LOCAL businessmen hung up their shirts and ties last Sunday to compete as the Alliance Champions against the Mambourin Tigers in the annual Homestead Cup.
The event raised $7500 for the Tigers’ uniforms, equipment and endofyear trip.
The Tigers, a group of disabled athletes, won easily, with a final score of 6.3.39 against the Champions’ 4.3.27.
Homestead Financial Group director and Werribee Chamber of Commerce president Vern Fettke said the community dug deep to support the team.
“The Mambourin Tigers provide a great awareness for people living with disabilities, with the game proving just how able these guys really are,” he said.
