Dog restrictions

WYNDHAM City Council has reminded residents who own restricted dogs they have until 29 September to register their canines with the council.
After this day, unregistered restricted dog breeds may be legally destroyed, under new laws implemented by the State Government, after St Albans three-year-old Ayen Chol was recently killed by a pit bull terrier.
Restricted dog breeds include pit bull terriers, American pit bull terriers, Fila Braileiro, Dogo Argentino, Japanese tosa and Perro de Presa Canario.
Mayor John Menegazzo encouraged residents who were unsure about their breed to contact the council, whose officers will do a free check to confirm whether the animal needs to be registered as a restricted status.
For further information contact the council on 9742 0777.
