EDUCATION in Wyndham will get a boost with construction beginning on the Wyndham Vale Community Learning Centre. The centre, which has been funded by the Federal Government with $2 million from the Community Infrastructure Program, will be located on Manor Lakes Boulevard and Howqua Way.
Once completed, the new centre will contain two kindergarten rooms, two maternal and child health consulting rooms, three community meeting spaces, a learning room, a youth lounge and library. Wyndham mayor Shane Bourke praised the benefits the centre would bring to the community.
“Currently the population of Wyndham Vale is approximately 13,000, but this is expected to almost double to reach almost 23,000 people in 2021,” Cr Shane Bourke said. The council has proposed another $7.9 million in funding for the project over the next two years and hopes it will open in 2011.
