MORE than 100 defects were found on cars in a blitz on unroadworthy vehicles in Wyndham on the weekend.
During a two-week period, dubbed Operation De-tune, Wyndham Traffic Management Unit officers selected 32 vehicles for inspection on Sunday, when they were checked by a Victoria Police mechanic and members of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Three cars and two motorcycles were immediately taken off the road, while 20 cars were shown to have defects, usually up to five per car.
Eleven penalty notices were issued for unsafe cars, and the EPA issued 13 notices for noise pollution.
