MARIBYRNONG City Council has set up two new special committees to deal with the growth of the municipality.
The council has established a City Development special committee and a Community and Services special committee, which will meet on the second and fourth Tuesday’s of the month respectively, to streamline council processes and maximise time for debate and deliberation.
The two committees will have decision making powers over community and infrastructure services and city development and planning.
They take the place of the existing Community Access and Strategic Planning committee.
The meetings will be open to the general public and media.
The council is also combining the existing Planning Forums and Planning Consultation Meetings into one Planning Forum, which will hear any applications with more than five objections.
