Momentum gives Lions the game

By Mark Murray
DEER Park produced a stirring final-quarter fightback to record an impressive 28-point triumph over Braybrook in their Division Two Western Region Football League clash on Saturday.
The Lions were up against it at half-time, trailing by 23 points, but slowly worked their way back into the contest in the third quarter before finishing full of steam.
They still trailed by 13 points at the last change but had all the momentum.
Deer Park charged home to boot 7.2 in the final quarter while holding Braybrook goalless and running away with a comfortable victory.
The win has the Lions sitting in fifth spot and among a group of unbeaten sides after three rounds.
West Footscray, meanwhile, jumped out of the blocks against Wyndhamvale Falcons to post a 63-point triumph on Saturday.
The Roosters signalled their intentions from the onset with a blistering opening quarter to lead by 25 points at the first change.
They then set about putting the contest beyond the Falcons with a 5.4 to 1.1 second term which stretched the buffer to a match-winning 52 points at the main change.
The Falcons showed plenty of resolve in not lying down for the rest of the match, but were simply outclassed by a slicker opponent.
In other matches Albanvale showed plenty of flair to dispose of Coburg Districts 20.11.131 to 12.9.81.
Albanvale took advantage of a strong breeze in the opening quarter to boot eight goals to two.
North Sunshine made light work of Western Magpies, winning by 87 points, while Sunshine Heights thumped Gladstone Park by an imposing 212 points.
And North Footscray did a similar job on Brunswick Power, recording a 32.15.207 to 4.6.30 victory.
