Suleyman walks as Reilly talks

By Ruza Zivkusic
BRIMBANK City mayor Natalie Suleyman walked out during a special general purpose advisory committee meeting last week when Sunshine Residents and Ratepayers Association president Darlene Reilly read her objection to the planning application of a multi-storey development in Sunshine.
Cr Suleyman smirked and then left the council chambers while Ms Reilly read that the Sunshine community would gather its “fighting spirit” if the three towers development was approved.
“If you think that the Sunshine community is against council now, well wait until the three towers are built causing untold community anger about car parking, pedestrian safety, air pollution, drug dealing, traffic jams and car accident,” Ms Reilly said.
She raised her voice and said “you’re so rude, Natalie”, then continued reading her objection during the three-minute time that was given to her.
Manager for planning and urban design Julie Lancashire held a nine-minute long PowerPoint presentation about the three towers.
A report of the application will be included as an item on today’s (Tuesday) council meeting agenda.
