IT WAS a strong day of competition at the Werribee Racing Club on Saturday with punters enjoying an eight-race card.
With everyone on course trying to find a winner, it was the bookmakers who had the better start to the day as a host of short priced favourites failed to salute.
Race one favourite It’s Poets Day ($3.20) missed out on running in the first four places as Fast Focus ($7.50) claimed the first on the card.
The boilovers continued in race two with the $1.70 shot Pinpoint pipped on the line by Eye On You ($11.60) and when Spying On You defeated Rivonia in race three, it looked like it was going to be an outsider’s paradise.
However, favourites and punters were given some respite later in the day as Onya Keithy (race four), Towan (race five), Samuelsson (race six) and Rushworth (race seven) all won at short odds.
The final race on the card was won by the 8-1 shot Pamukkale.
The Werribee Racing Club’s next meeting will take place on Tuesday 18 June.
