Hot pie … A pizza extravaganza will be held at the Maidstone Community Centre on 29 July. The community is invited to help the centre celebrate the completion of the new wood fire pizza oven on the day, with the event to acknowledge a number of ethnic traditions. There will be pizza and African bread-making demonstrations, with the results of the workshops freely available to visitors. Members of the Aboriginal community will also tell indigenous cooking stories and will play the didgeridoo as part of the celebrations, which will run from 2pm to 4pm. To check everything was ready for the big day, Seddon resident Kathy Fisher and Erol Tuncer put the new pizza oven to the test. For more information, phone Maidstone Community Centre on 9317 0747.
