Hoon cars crushed

SEVERAL cars from across the western and northern suburbs seized under Victoria’s anti-hoon laws were crushed during the last seven months.
More than 50 vehicles have been destroyed across the state, with cars which have been impounded three times subject to the punishment.
A 24-year-old probationary driver from Hoppers Crossing had his Holden Commodore flattened after being charged with improper use of the vehicle.
A Deer Park P-plater, 25, had his Mitsubishi Magna crushed for excessive speeding.
Another Deer Park resident, a 20-year-old learner driver, had his Holden Commodore destroyed after he evaded police.
A Sunshine man and an L-plater from Tullamarine also had their vehicles confiscated due to excessive speeding.
In addition, a male from Glenroy, aged 21, had his Holden ute crushed after he was caught driving while disqualified.
Victoria’s Road Policing Inspector Wayne Chatters warned dangerous drivers “if you speed or drive in a manner which places the wider community at risk – we will be targeting you”.
“Next time you are hooning through your town’s main street, consider this – how would you feel if your burnout resulted in you killing someone? How could you face their family?” he said.
“We will continue to take a tough stance against these reckless drivers and we will impound hoon vehicles before you have the chance to injure or kill other road users.”
Anyone with information about hooning can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
