THE Western Jets were given a football lesson by the undefeated North Ballarat Rebels in a one-sided match at AUSTAR Arena in round 13 of TAC Cup competition.
The 81-point win has virtually sewed up top spot for North Ballarat, which has a four-game break over nearest rival the Geelong Falcons.
The Rebels set up the victory with a nine-goal first quarter while the Jets could only snaffle one major.
The Jets’ defence reduced the all-conquering Rebels to four and two goals in the second and third quarters respectively, and the team was also more competitive in front of goal.
However, the Rebels pulled away with a seven-goal-to-four final term.
Luke Cartelli booted three goals for the Jets, Timothy Jenkins showed promise up forward with two majors while key tall Cameron Lockwood continued his consistent year.
The Jets will need to get back on the winners’ list against the Calder Cannons this Saturday if they are to push for a TAC Cup finals spot.
The match starts at 11am at Burbank Oval.
