RESIDENTS are invited to take part in an expert panel-style forum that will discuss Wyndham’s rapid growth.
The growth forum will be hosted by Wyndham Council and will feature independent academic, Professor Kevin O’Connor from Melbourne University who will give an overview on the issues and challenges of urban population growth in relation to environmental sustainability and social issues.
Wyndham Mayor John Menegazzo said the Forum would provide an understanding on how to make sure that the vision of a more liveable and sustainable for Wyndham’s future is a reality.
“This forum will not only challenge people’s opinions and beliefs on growth, but the outcomes and priorities for action arising from the forum will feed into Wyndham City’s advocacy work,” Cr Menegazzo said.
“Wyndham has been growing at a rate of almost nine per cent each year, making it the fastest growing municipality in the country, which provides a major challenge for all levels of government. But it needn’t be a barrier to a sustainable future provided it is adequately planned and resourced.”
The forum will be held on 28 November from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Wydnahm Cultural Centre. For more information call the council on 9742 0818.
