THE proposed Wyndham Cove marina received 138 submissions during an eightweek public consultation period.
Fourteen submissions, or about 10 per cent of the total, were against the project, and the remainder, supportive.
Opponents objected to the impact of the marina on the environment; the inadequate capacity of existing infrastructure; the change in character to Werribee South; and the conflict between the project and green wedge zone intentions.
Further planning and environmental approvals are still required for the $275 million marina, but are expected by the end of the year.
Construction of Wyndham Cove is anticipated to begin next year.
Project manager, Prudentia Investments, expects the project to generate more than $500 million into the local, regional and Melbourne economies during its construction period between 2006 and 2011.
The marina has been designed to include residential and retail developments up to a height of three storeys, as well as berths for 1000 vessels.
