BRIMBANK schools were big winners in an $11 million funding boost for schools in the West announced Monday.
The injection is part of a $64 million Leading Schools program aimed at improving the performance of Victoria’s schools and students.
Brimbank College, Deer Park Secondary College, Kealba Secondary College and St Albans Secondary will share 10 additional teachers for three years as part of the funding.
They will also receive $1.2 million to refurbish existing classrooms and develop shared information and communication technology equipment.
Caroline Springs College will receive four additional teachers for three years and $1.2 million to develop personalised learning plans for all year levels from kindergarten to Year 12, with an initial focus on years 7 and 8.
Education Minister Lynne Kosky said the program would add 31 more teachers into classrooms across the West.
“By employing extra teachers and improving classrooms we are giving every student the best possible chance to learn to their full potential and leave school with the skills and knowledge they need to go on to further study into a trade or get a job.”
