MARIBYRNONG City mayor Janet Rice and deputy mayor Michael Clarke attended the Australian Local Government Association’s National General Assembly of Local Government in Canberra this week.
The councillors brought to the table three issues that were debated and adopted.
These included the establishment of a federally-funded infrastructure fund, federal funding for public transport and a resolution to the cost-shifting relating to family day care.
“The adoption of these motions means these vital community issues are now an endorsed component of the ALGA national agenda,” Cr Rice said.
The association will now lobby the Federal Government to tackle these issues.
