POINT Cook residents are getting ready for the arrival of a new sporting pavilion at one of the most popular sporting ovals in the area.
The $1.6 million contract for the construction of the pavilion at the Alamanda Sporting Oval was awarded to Australian Commercial Builders late last year.
It will feature change rooms, a kitchen, toilets and social rooms.
Wyndham City Councillor Glenn Goodfellow said the oval was home to AFL and cricket clubs.
“With the number of sporting clubs in Wyndham and specifically Point Cook increasing, it’s vital that we provide adequate facilities for them to store their equipment, run social events and host opposition teams,” Cr Goodfellow said.
“Point Cook is one of our fastest growing suburbs and it’s fundamental there are sufficient amenities to support that growing community, such as shopping centres, community centres and sporting ovals and pavilions.”
Works on the pavilion will be complete later this month.
