A HOPPERS Crossing author with a passion for telling stories recently published her 15th book.
Cecilia Conwaye-Wright has released her latest series of books, a trilogy based on the life of a jazz bandsman in Northern England.
The books, entitled Cracker Jazz one, two and Switty, are loosely based on the life of Ms Conwaye-Wright’s father.
“It covers all the adventures, misadventures, triumphs and tragedies of his life,” Ms Conwaye-Wright said.
“It is based on the life of my father who was a jazz band pianist but it is fictionalised.”
The passionate author said she had been writing books for longer than she could remember and still got excited every time she completed a new story.
“When I wrote my first four books it was very difficult to get them published. I had to rely on my own enterprise,” she said.
“I still get a great thrill. I’ve got regular readers who are always waiting for the next edition.”
Ms Conwaye-Wright said she hoped her latest books would help promote jazz music to a wider audience.
For other aspiring writers hoping to get their books published, Ms Conwaye-Wright said you needed to have passion.
“It’s a hard and competitive industry and you’ve got to know all the ins and outs of it,” she said.
“You can’t have a dream like ambition that the world is just going to fall over for your work.”
As for when she will stop putting pen to paper, Ms Conwaye-Wright said she could not see an end in sight.
“I guess I’ll just continue writing until I can’t write any more,” she said.
The Cracker Jazz trilogy is currently available at Collins Booksellers at Werribee Plaza.
