Jets enhance AFL draft prospects

WESTERN Jets pair Will Sullivan and Callan Ward both impressed at the AFL Draft Camp in Canberra.
Sullivan recorded a brisk time in the beep test to impress observant recruiting scouts.
He stands an imposing 202cm, and his excellent endurance will enhance his chances of being picked up in the November draft.
Ward enjoyed a fantastic season and is among the top draft hopes for the Jets.
“Callan was very solid and tested well in most areas,” Western region manager Shane Sexton said.
“Will, for a big bloke, had a terrific beep test and did really well in the 3km time trial, so both were very satisfactory in terms of overall results at the draft camp.”
Sullivan has tremendous scope for improvement given taller players are usually late bloomers in football circles.
“He has got brilliant endurance and is tall and athletic with a big engine,” Sexton said.
“Will is going to be a work in progress and has been for a few years.
“He hasn’t been playing serious footy for all that long and to make the state side and acquit himself pretty well is a credit to him.
“He has had a couple of seasons of TAC Cup footy and has done a good job in getting to the draft camp.”
Meanwhile, Mitchell Banner took out the Jets’ best and fairest award on Thursday night in convincing style.
Banner finished on 208 votes, 38 clear of runner-up Nathan Lyons on 170.
Rounding out the top five was Callan Ward on 154 votes, Steven Morris on 140 and Steven Kennedy on 112.
