Magic aims for double chance

ALTONA prevented a three-game losing streak in the Vodafone Cup by defeating Frankston 2-0 on Saturday.
The Magic came into the match on the back of defeats to Oakleigh and Bulleen and losing second spot on the table in the process, but was back on the winner’s list at Paisley Park.
Saso Becvinovski netted his 14th goal of the season to remain two goals behind competition leader Michael Curcija, while Tomi Razov returned to the score sheet to complete the victory.
Altona has temporarily moved back into second position behind runaway minor premier Oakleigh, pending the result of last night’s match between Bulleen and South Melbourne. Barring a catastrophe in the final two weeks, the Magic will contest this year’s finals and is odds on to earn the crucial double chance.
Altona faces a danger game this week against Green Gully, a team desperate for a win to keep its finals chances alive, before a final-round clash against last year’s runner-up Heidelberg.
