No joy for Keilor

KEILOR fell just short of victory against a dangerous McKinnon on Saturday in their Victorian Turf Cricket Association match.
The Bulldogs remain in the top four despite the narrow loss, the team’s first of the season. McKinnon is now nipping at the heels of Keilor in fifth position, also holding a 2-1 win-loss record after three rounds.
Steve Mullaney impressed with the bat for McKinnon hitting a timely 67 which ensured a competitive total. Keilor looked on track to reach the target and remain undefeated after three rounds, before collapsing.
The team was 3/108 but pressure mounted when the run rate started to lift to dangerous levels.
Scott Porter (45), Ben Neville (35), captain Rick Marcy (34) and Luke Bugeja (16) got amongst it in the top order but things dropped away when Marcy was dismissed. The team eventually ran out of time to finish in arrears at 8/158.
In other matches, Yarraville Club accounted for South Caulfield, Spotswood lost to Youlden Parkville, Old Doutta Stars had a strong win over Hampton, Old Essendon Grammarians toppled Chelsea and Royal Park-Brunswick defeated Altona North.
