Werribee dominated the game but Melbourne University never gave up, forcing a tight match and a nail-biting finish.
All players contributed, with coach Adrian Giblin commenting it was a great team performance.
However, Foley’s performance stood out, along with an excellent contribution from Rebecca McKay, who scored 14 points.
On Mother’s Day this Sunday the She-Devils take on bottom-of-the-table Whittlesea at Mill Park at 3pm.
Saturday night saw an inspired performance by Werribee’s Big V Championship men against ladder leaders Sandringham.
The Sabres got out of the blocks well and led 27-12 at the first change; however, the Devils scored 30 points in the second term, led by Michael Petridis and Chris Moore.
An even third term, with both Luke Egan and Graham Anstey strong under the ring and scoring 15 and 12 points respectively, meant Sandringham were only nine points ahead at the last change.
Sandringham finished the stronger of the teams with Marcus Timmons leading the way, eventually winning 103-83.
This weekend sees the Devils take on Latrobe City at home at 8.15pm.
Werribee’s Big V Youth league team was at home against Ballarat on Saturday night, and the visitors definitely came to Melbourne to play.
Ballarat led 36-15 at quarter time and were shooting well from the outside.
Coach Adam McFawn was ringing the changes in an attempt to spark something from the boys, and Anthony Truman responded with a solid game, scoring 15 points.
Saturday night sees the Youth League boys take on Sandringham at Werribee recreation Centre at 6pm.
