WILLIAMSTOWN captain Craig Sheedy is the final Star Newspaper/Western Region Cricket Centre cricketer of the month for the season following his heroics in the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association grand final a fortnight ago.
The former Carlton and Essendon batsman cracked a brilliant 120 to help his side chase down the 216 required against Altona.
Sheedy enjoyed an outstanding summer with the willow, finishing with more than 700 runs, with his ton in the premiership decider his third for the season.
He batted for the bulk of the second day against Altona, departing with the match safely in Williamstown’s keeping, the team needing just 10 more runs from nine overs.
The Star Newspaper/Western Region Cricket Centre (WRCC) cricketer of the month competition rewards the feats of players in each of the West’s local cricket competitions, with prizes up for grabs for the most consistent players in a four-week period.
Sheedy will receive four free net sessions at WRCC and a 10 per cent discount on equipment and apparel following his award.
