FOUR of Werribee’s best performed players in the 2005 Victorian Football League (VFL) season are already back at training – but not with the Tigers.
James Podsiadly, Chad O’Sullivan, Wayde Twomey and Salim Hassan have joined the ranks at the Western Bulldogs for the preseason, beginning their gruelling summer last Wednesday.
Podsiadly, O’Sullivan and Hassan formed part of the driving force behind Werribee’s charge in the VFL this year, with the team contesting the grand final after finishing the season the minor premier.
Twomey, a 19yearold firstyear player at the Tigers, graduated from the Western Jets in 2004 and will get the chance to train alongside some of the Australian Football League’s most talented athletes with the Bulldogs.
The youngster did not sneak into the powerful senior Werribee outfit this season but was a consistent performer in the reserves, claiming the best and fairest in his first year.
Podsiadly was simply brilliant for the Tigers in 2005, leading the club and league goalkicking with 72 majors, representing Victoria and snaring the club’s senior best and fairest.
O’Sullivan and Hassan were the keys to the everreliable Tigers’ midfield brigade, and, with age on their side, will be looking to snare a place on the Bulldogs’ list for 2006.
