THE State Government has continued to hide the findings of the controversial mould and air quality report undertaken at a Werribee school.
Parents at Galvin Park Secondary College in Werribee started demanding that the results of the report be released to the general public after water damage caused roofs at the school to cave in and black mould to form on some of the walls.
A spokesperson for the Department of Education told Star at the beginning of this year that the findings would be released after they were shared with the school.
But months later they are still not releasing them.
Galvin Park council spokesperson Anthony Monaghan, who has seen the report, said it failed to answer questions asked by parents.
“There were essentially no answers in it because there are no standards for air quality anywhere in the world,” Mr Monaghan said.
“There are no measurements they can use to prove whether it is safe or not.
“The school council questioned some of the results.”
A spokesperson for the Department of Education said that the school buildings remained “clean, safe and dry”.
“The Department provided the air quality report to Galvin Park Secondary College when the school year resumed,” the spokesperson said.
“The Department also ran a comprehensive briefing on the report for both the school council and staff, which included a presentation from one of the mould specialists involved in the works throughout the summer break.”
Parents complained to Star last year after the extent of the damage became known, with some even blaming their children’s health problems on the poor conditions.
