THE Werribee Race Club is the big winner after Racing Victoria announced transfer venues for four Victorian tracks that are unable to host programmed meetings in the short to medium term.
The affected venues are Moe, Sale, Yarra Valley and Ballarat with the transfers required due to major renovations, infrastructure maintenance and the impact of weather and winter racing.
The decision means Werribee will add an additional two meetings to its already impressive upcoming card.
Punters will be greeted with an eight-race meeting this Thursday 26 July, with the first race set to jump at 12.05pm.
General manager of the Werribee Race Club and Werribee International Horse Centre Ross Kendell said the additional meetings were a great indication that the racetrack was performing well and that the course was an important venue within Victoria because it was able to handle additional meetings when required.
The second meeting will take place on Thursday 23 August.
The announcement only adds to what has been an exciting few months for the race club with a successful Werribee Cup and the thrill of champion racehorse Black Caviar checking into the club’s quarantine centre.
