FOOTSCRAY Cycling Club’s criterium racing was rained out on Saturday, but riders did get to race at the Victoria University track in Hoppers Crossing on Thursday night.
Club champion Steve Pilson gapped the field to finish well clear of the chasing bunch in the A Grade race, with Dom Dudkiewicz taking a very tight and fast bunch sprint just ahead of Queenslander John Murazak, veteran Brett Hickford and Scott Pilson.
In the B Grade race, a strong breakaway of seven riders looked like they had it in the bag, only to be caught with five minutes to go.
A very tight bunch sprint was taken by gun sprinter Glen Hutchinson from Andrew Galliano, with the first six riders crossing within a second of each other.
C Grade’s race was taken by Peter Humphries in a bunch sprint, with in-form and soon to be C Grade rider Steve Humphries taking D Grade’s sprint over Peter Burke. E Grade’s Steve Cook taking a well-deserved win.
