Police park warning

By Xavier Smerdon
POLICE have warned residents to obey the parking rules or pay the price.
Residents that illegally park their cars and Jet Ski trailers along Beach Rd in Werribee South against the no stopping signs are liable for a $119 fine.
Wyndham Highway Patrol’s Senior Constable Graeme Crouch said drivers parking illegally were putting other resident’s safety on the line.
“It’s dangerous to park there as the road is winding and narrow, drivers get distracted by the water, and this leaves little room for manoeuvring between oncoming cars,” he said.
Sen Const Matt Wilson said the operation would run until there was a significant decrease in the number of people parking illegally.
“There’s gradually been an increase in people parking illegally,” he said.
“There has also been an increase in the number of complaints that we’re receiving.”
Police are also seeking witnesses to an incident at Werribee Plaza Saturday 15 January at around 12.50am in which an elderly man was hit by a car.
The driver of the car and the elderly man then got in a fight at the plaza.
Anyone with any information about this collision can contact Leading Senior Constable Eddy at the Wyndham Highway Patrol on 8734 1155.
