A WERRIBEE artist with a passion for finding the calmness in an otherwise hectic world will have her works on display next month.
Julie Rogers has been painting for more than 25 years, using watercolours to capture her favourite landscapes, often found in the western suburbs.
Living across from the Werribee River, her home studio is filled with paintings of the sun rising and setting over Wyndham’s most recognisable natural icon.
“I do a lot of local scenes. We have such wonderful inspiration around us,” Ms Rogers said.
“I really like to capture the beauty of creation and show the light, hope, serenity and peace that nature can create.
“I think that the water in particular creates a beautiful sense of peace.”
Her subjects are not only restricted to Werribee and the rest of the West, with her background of living in country Victoria also showing through in several paintings.
Ms Rogers said for her painting was a way to escape the stresses of everyday life.
“When I’m painting it’s like I’m in a completely different world,” she said.
“I do find there’s a peace in painting and I guess it just comes from within.”
Ms Rogers works will be on display at Art in Public Places in Hobsons Bay next month.
The public exhibition will run from Tuesday 1 April to Wednesday 30 April.
