WEST Footscray resident Robert Yung has been re-appointed to the Ministerial Advisory Council of Senior Victorians.
Aged Care Minister Lisa Neville said Mr Yung would again be one of the 15 members of her ministerial advisory council announced last week.
Ms Neville said Mr Yung would bring valuable community experience and a sense of continuity to the new advisory council.
“He will help the new council achieve the necessary balance of experience and skills with seniors representing rural and regional areas, as well as culturally diverse and Indigenous backgrounds,” she said.
Ms Neville said she was looking forward to working with Mr Yung and the council members on the issues that matter to senior Victorians.
Mr Yung said he was both proud and humble to be able to continue his work with the advisory council.
“I am grateful I have the opportunity to further assist the minister with the matters of seniors,” he said.
Mr Yung said it was an honour to work with people with a wide experience and background.
“They are people with a mutual respect for each other and openly share their life-long experience,” he said.
The council was set up in 2001 by the Victorian Government to maintain the focus on the needs of senior Victorians.
Members of the ministerial advisory council are appointed for a three-year term and are selected as individuals not as representatives of specific organisations.
“I am pleased Mr Yung, with his involvement in the Chinese community, was prepared to put his name forward to serve another term on the Ministerial Advisory Council of Senior Victorians,” Ms Neville said.
