Jets’ stream of wins ends

THE Northern Knights ended the Western Jets’ three-game winning run with a comfortable 39-point victory at Australian Motor Finance Oval on Sunday in round 12 of the TAC Cup.
The Knights were rarely challenged by the visitors, and buried a four-game losing streak in the process to move into third position on the TAC Cup ladder.
A win for the Jets could have seen the team sneak into the eight for the first time this season after the Calder Cannons smashed the eighth-placed Sandringham Dragons.
The Jets played catch-up football all day and failed to consistently ignite any momentum compared to previous weeks.
Paul Colbert and Brett Meredith both kicked four valuable goals for the Knights, while Tim Bongetti and Pat Veszpremi chimed in with two majors.
The electrifying and versatile Bachlar Houli was well held by the Knights defence despite scoring two goals, and was the Jets only multiple goalkicker.
Richard Knight and talented big man Cameron Lockwood were among the Jets’ best.
Spectators saw a slow start from both teams in the opening term in overcast conditions with the home side registering only one major.
The Knights lifted the intensity in the second term, courtesy of Michael Kreuzer and Brent Bransgrove.
The home side saw off an early challenge in the final quarter from the Jets and piled on five goals.
The Jets face an even greater task this Sunday against undefeated ladder leader North Ballarat Rebels at AUSTAR Arena, with the game starting at 1pm.
