WYNDHAM students read more books than ever earlier this month as part of the MS Readathon.
Almost 250 students from 24 Wyndham schools “devoured” more than 5500 books during the five-week campaign.
The event raised almost $18,000 locally for multiple sclerosis (MS), a disease that attacks the central nervous system.
Hoppers Crossing’s Bellbridge Primary School took out the city’s top spot for raising most money.
Sixty-seven students there registered for the annual event, reading more than 900 books between them, and raising $3401.50.
They were followed by St James the Apostle, in Hoppers Crossing, whose students enjoyed almost 1300 books.
Last year’s readathon raised more than $4.5 million across Australia for the country’s 15,000 MS sufferers.
